Chambers' Effective Readers (Book I and II)

Book I and II only. Undated (circa 1908). 128pp (Book I) and 144pp (Book II). Red cloth covered boards, black illustrations on fronts, black titles on fronts and spines, colour illustration frontispieces and several colour and black and white illustrations. 12mo. Boards mottled, rear boards moderately soiled. Spine's sun-faded and worn, ends heavily rubbed, Book I's spine has <2cm splits in cloth at head, <3cm splits in cloth at heel and a <8cm split in cloth along rear edge, Book II's spine has a split along the length of the rear joint, <1cm section of loss mid way up. Corners are heavily rubbed and rounded, with cloth worn through. Text block edges heavily tanned, top edge of Book I has a small ink stain (affecting some rear pages). Book II is quite loose. Endpapers heavily tanned, Book I has a <2cm section of loss in the top corner of the front free endpaper. Gutters stretched. Occasional light soiling throughout.
