📖 Description
[1929]. 284pp, with monochrome plate frontispiece with numerous further plate illustrations and scattered drawings and figures in text. In blue cloth-covered boards with electric blue titles on spine. 8vo. Boards heavily worn at edges, with cloth mottled and broken, seemingly from water exposure in the past. Rubbed and rounded at corners and spine ends, with cloth chipped, spine sunned and titles faded, call number and label taped to base of spine. Ex lending library with bookplate on paste down, lending sheet and security device on front free endpaper, lending pocket on rear paste down and stamp at base of copyright page. First gutter cracked with frontispiece loosened. Occasional scattered spotting on prelims, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. An uncommon study of folk memory, with chapters for example on The Queen Tower of Niebla, The Ancient Ports of the Estuary of the Rio Tinto and the folk Memory of Atlantis, Tartessus in History, The Origin of the Iberian Race, The Temple of Hercules and the Sn Temple at Seville, etc. Not a pretty copy but complete, robust and very readable. Scarce.
