First edition, first impression.  xvi, 1196pp, with sections of black and white plate illustrations. 8vo.  In brown cloth-covered boards with gilt lettering on spine.  Patterned endpapers.  Volume is just as little rubbed along the upper edge of cloth-binding, else neat, clean, bright and tight throughout.  In its original laminated and illustrated dust jacket, a little bumped and toned on edges.
