Top text block edge heavily discoloured and dusty, remaining edges tanning. Endpapers lightly tanned, gift inscription on front free-endpaper, Front hinge and gutters cracked in a number of places, volume very loose. Internally two colour plates are detached at spine, closed tears to one of the plates; foxing throughout, intensity varies greatly.</p> <p>A detailed study from 1860 giving the names, appearance, habits, localities and general history of butterfly life in the British Isles.</p>
