<p>xliii, 132pp, with a tissue-guarded colour plate frontispiece and five further tissue-guarded colour plates. All pages bordered, those of the introduction in silver and those of the text in gold gilt.  In richly decorated cloth boards. Top edge gilt.  8vo.  Covers a tad toned, gently rubbed at extreme corners and spine tips.  Text block edges a little darkened with the occasional small mark. Endpapers tanned else internally neat, clean, bright and tight.</p> <p> Originating in France in the latter part of the 12th century, Aucassin and Nicolette is the tale of two lovers, an example of a 'sung story' using a combination of prose and verse.  This was the first book to be illustrated by Anne Anderson.  A handsome, heirloom volume.</p>
