1st ed, 1st imp. 8vo. 252pp. Original orangey-brown cloth with gilt titles to spine, in lovely, generally bright dust jacket, unclipped (18s) by John Woodcock. Board very mildy rubbed at corners and spine ends, faint remnants of adhesive tape to endpapers, minor lean. Dust jacket lightly chipped on edges and mildly toned around spine & rear edges. Signed & inscribed on the title page: "Max Valentine, with the good wishes of Iris Murdoch". DJ now protected in archival mylar sleeve without use of any adhesive.
