Illustrated Guide to the Lady Lever Collection

<p>64pp including a rich array of sepia-toned plate illustrations of items from the Lady Lever collection. Fold-out plan at rear. Not dated but c 1930. Card covers (rubbed at edges, minor curls on corners, fraying at spine tips and worn all over). Internally neat, clean, bright and tight barring minor wear along page edges, mild paper scars inside front cover, and the word Liverpool written on the title page. The Lady Lever Art Gallery was founded and built by the industrialist and philanthropist William Lever, 1st Viscount Leverhulme and opened in 1922. It is set in the garden village of Port Sunlight, on the Wirral and one of the National Museums Liverpool. An important collection, of 19th century British Art, including probably the largest collection of William Etty anywhere in the world. Much of the Wedgwood collection was from the collection of Dudley Marjoribanks, 1st Baron Tweedmouth, bought in 1905. This in turn was partly formed from the collection of Charles Darwin, Josiah Wedgwood's grandson. It is probably the best collection of jasperware in the world. A short section at the end of the volume describes the Masonic Temple. Slim 8vo.</p>
