A Cotswold Book

<p>First edition.  256pp, illustrated with twelve monochrome plates, being pencil drawings al l by L S Lowry.  Red cloth-covered boards with gilt titles on spine.  8vo.  Cloth a little faded, gently rubbed at corners and a little rounded at spine ends, a little sunned over spine.  A little toning on endpapers only, rear pastedown has small stain at top.  Previous owner's name neatly inked on front free endpaper, dated 1931 else internally neat, clean, bright and tight.  </p> <p>Timperley was a local historian and writer of topographical studies.  This is probably the most remarkable of his works for the illustrations which the publisher, Cape, commissioned from leading artist, L S Lowry.  This is the only book Lowry illustrated (although he did do a few dust jackets). Now a very hard to find title.</p>
