<p>First edition, first impression.  Signed and inscribed by Morton Latham on the front free endpaper.  [1], 122, [2]pp with tissue-guarded portrait plate frontispiece.  Quarter bound in white cloth over green cloth-covered boards.   Top edge gilt, other text block edges untrimmed. 12mo.  Cloth a little worn, gently rubbed and rounded at corners and tips of a slightly sunned spine, lower leading corner has minor bump.  Some faint and occasional spotting on endpapers and first and last few leaves, else internally neat, clean, bright and tight. </p> <p>Carlo Alfredo Piatti (1822-1901) was an Italian cellist and classical composer, composing for both the cello and the piano as well as occasionally for full orchestras.  He played on a Stradivarius which is now named after him, Piatti, and owned by the Mexican cellist Carlos Prieto.  among the most celebrated musicians of his day, he was a firm feature of the long-running Popular Concerts at London's St James Hall.</p>
