<p>Frist edition, first printing.  192pp.  Blue cloth-covered boards with gilt motif on upper panel, gilt titles on spine. Decorated endpapers.  12mo.  Cloth a little rounded at corners and spine ends, slightly discoloured around spine.  Internally neat, clean, bright and tight barring some pencil annotations on the half title identifying the designer of the book as John Hassall, better known for his commercial art including the Jolly Fisherman poster, regarded as one of the most famous holiday advertisements and his 1910 desing for the Kodak Girl.  In its original paper dust wrapper, a little bumped and rubbed at edges with some slight chipping and minor loss along upper rear edges.  Dust wrapper now protected in a Mylar-style protective sleeve fitted without the use of tape or adhesives.</p> <p>Lilian Bowes Lyon (1895-1949) published six volumes of poetry as well as two novels, all of which were well recieved even if not popular.  She was the first cousin of Elizabeth Bowes Lyon, who became Queen Elizabeth in 1938 and later The Queen Mother.  With an introduction by C Day Lwis.</p>
